Life Ball Vienna Celebrates 1001 Nights

At the shrill Aids charity event on 25 May, a roaring party will be celebrated under the banner of solidarity and tolerance. Designer Roberto Cavalli is designing the public fashion show on City Hall Square this year. The evening before the Life Ball, a benefit concert with a great line-up of stars will be held in the Burgtheater. Hollywood actress Eva Longoria will also take part in it.
Under the slogan "1001 Nights", the party on 25 May at the Life Ball in and in front of Vienna's City Hall promises to be shrill, colorful and loud, in order to generate donations for Aids relief projects and to promote public awareness of the disease. The Life Ball is Europe's biggest Aids benefit event.
The opulent opening show at City Hall Square, with numerous appearances by international stars and a fashion show, is open to the public. Every year, 40,000 onlookers follow the colorful goings on. Designer Roberto Cavalli is designing this year's fashion show for the second time and will present a fashion retrospective in 2013.
In the past, numerous well-known personalities have waived their fee for the opening show in the service of a good cause, including Bill Clinton, Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Eva Longoria, Antonio Banderas, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Liza Minnelli, Sir Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Milla Jovovich and Brooke Shields.
On the evening before the Life Ball, on 24 May, the Red Ribbon Celebration Concert will be held for the second time in the Burgtheater - this year with opera stars like Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott. Hollywood actress Eva Longoria and a lot of national actors will give short readings. Eva and Roberto Cavalli will invite numerous prominent guests to Vienna for this concert. On the same day, Cavalli is opening his new flagship store in Vienna in the Goldenes Quartier on the Tuchlauben.
